The year 2020 was a challenging year for many of us. We had to change the way we lived. We could not see our friends and family as often. We could not go to the office to socialize and collaborate with our colleagues.

But that year was also an enlightening year. Having the pandemic all over the world showed us that the way we treat animals impacts not only their lives but our lives as well. We might not realize the harm behind our day-to-day actions that often lead to the demise of animals and nature around us. It doesn't have to be like this. We can aim for a more sustainable and kind way of living where the nature and people thrive together.

As a reflection on 2020, my husband and I worked on a project to tell the stories of three extinct animals who are not around to tell their stories themselves. I hope that reading about them will give you joy and appreciation for the world around us.
